Business Development Manager – Texas Residential Group Buying

Location: Austin, Texas area
Start date: as soon as possible

As Business Development Manager you are responsible for engaging, developing and maintaining long-term trusted and successful relationships with large partner organizations – such as cities- who are interested in providing beneficiary services to their residents/members in collaboration with iChoosr. Through these partnerships, our goal is to engage large groups of consumers to participate in our group buying programs. You will work closely with our Austin-based team and will be supported by our international teams based in Amsterdam, Antwerp, and London.

Welcome to iChoosr

iChoosr is an innovative, growing and well-performing international company, founded in 2008 and still privately owned and funded by the two co-founders who are passionate about the company mission and employees who work here.

iChoosr believes in the power of uniting consumers to get a better deal. Following the deregulation of the European energy markets, iChoosr started to run group buying and switching programs through auctions, first in Belgium and quickly thereafter in the Netherlands. The program was expanded to the United Kingdom in 2012 and to the United States (Texas) in 2017. In addition to our residential group electricity switching programs, we organize group switching programs for Solar PV installations and asbestos removal.  Currently, we have 90 colleagues in offices in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Antwerp (Belgium), London (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Austin (Texas, US) and Tokyo (Japan).

Our business model is based on applying Behavioral Science principles in combination with Data Analytics to increase consumer education, engagement, and conversion ratios. We partner with community and local leaders, who are known and trusted by consumers/city residents. They play a crucial role in helping to enhance large scale consumer engagement. Examples of community leaders are local governments (like cities), membership organizations (like trade unions), high-interest groups (like sports clubs), media companies (like newspapers), online platforms, large employers, churches, and social clubs.

During our first 10 years, over 1.8 million consumers have saved money through iChoosr group switching programs.  We have been operating in Texas since 2017, where we have successfully organized 6 Texas Power Switch (residential electricity group switching) programs and are scaling very quickly with the support of our partner cities.

iChoosr is founded on a set of strong values that it applies to everything it does and everyone it deals with, including consumers, community leaders, partners, providers, and employees. Our mission is to:

  • Build trusting and long-term relationships to create market offerings that are compelling to residential consumers and community leaders, and are attractive for providers.
  • Provide a deep understanding of consumer behavior based on Behavioral Science insights, continuous AB-testing and consumer research.
  • Build teamwork and team spirit internally at iChoosr and with our partners, which is essential to each deal/project/auction’s success.
  • Provide each iChoosr employee with responsibility and the freedom to realize personal career objectives.
  • Foster a work atmosphere that is highly motivating: iChoosr involves its team members in the content and development of its projects, which enables everyone to have an impact.
  • Create a company culture of entrepreneurship and fast decision making – and have fun doing it!

Within the State of Texas, focus on the acquisition of new cities and the development and account management of existing partner cities and other potential community leaders to motivate them to partner with iChoosr.

Manage community leaders’ expectations and help them with internal marketing to engage all of their stakeholders (e.g. city managers, mayors, council members).

Streamline interests, mitigate potential conflicts of interest and find solutions that align with community leaders’ objectives.

Involve both iChoosr leadership and marketing teams in the engagement and development of consumers in conjunction with community leaders.
